You may be planning your perfect Christmas party outfit (think sustainable pieces), planning the presents for friends & family and decorating the tree but nothing screams of the season more than having a glass of oh-so-comforting mulled wine.  We’ve been testing a few variations of the recipe for the past few weeks in preparation (oh yes, we like to be prepared - esp when it comes to wine!) and found the perfect recipe so here you go:




  • 750ml bottle red wine - Merlot works well

  • 1 large cinnamon stick

  • 2 star anise

  • 5 cloves

  • 2 strips lemon zest, pared using a vegetable peeler

  • 4 tbsp caster sugar




  • Put the red wine, cinnamon, star anise, cloves, lemon zest and sugar in a large pan. Cook on a low heat for 10 mins.

  • Remove from the heat and cool, leaving to infuse for about 30 mins.

  • To serve, heat without boiling and pour into mugs or heatproof glasses.
